Von Magnet
Von Magnet, probably best described as experimental-avant-garde, combines multiple layers of artistry to create an experience of sight and sound for their audiences. Painters, makeup artists, dancers, and even the musicians of Von Magnet all play an important role in the dramatic live presentations. The music of Von Magnet builds from minimal and sometimes metallic sounds into immense pieces using a host of instruments. A wide variety of percussion instrumentation is present, in addition to flamenco, bass and electric guitars, sitars, violins, electronics and some of the most intense vocals heard by many.
Keep in mind whilst listening that the main artist, Phil Von, is a very talented flamenco-dancer, and, once getting fed up with the traditional and non-progressive way of flamenco-music, decided to make his own. Filled with samples, of lyrics, of other artists instruments, or his own dancing on a wooden amplified box, it has something industrial as well as danceable.
Their shows are dramatic, story-telling performances, but always with a large role for flamenco-music. It is a highly explosive and confusing show, often making use of the surroundings. The whole theater is the stage. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
